Meet your 2022 Newton Homecoming king and queen – Newton Daily News

Newton High Schoolers decided on Sept. 15 that Brody Bauer and Kaitlyn Bloom will be this year’s Homecoming king and queen. The two were crowned by the former king and queen, Adam Mattes and Brooklyn Cupples, during coronation in the high school gymnasium. The two were prominently featured in the ensuing homecoming parade later that evening.

Homecoming court was chosen on Sept. 9.

Excluding Bauer, the other 2022 NHS Homecoming king candidates were: Collin Buchli, Carson Satterfield, Kacey Sommers, Alex Thomason, Drew Thompson, Tade Vanderlaan and Turner Williams.

Excluding Bloom, the other 2022 NHS Homecoming queen candidates were: Kate Muckler, Marin Pettigrew, Ella Price, Audrey Rausch, Lillie Ray, Haley Sevenbergen and Addisyn Terpstra.

Brody Bauer: Katie and Scott Bauer are the parents of Brody Bauer. Bauer is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the student council. Bauer is a member of the basketball, baseball, football and track teams. He is a member of the FCA Leadership Council. Bauer is a captain on the basketball and football teams. He earned All-Conference honors in basketball and baseball and is a varsity letter winner in basketball, football, baseball and track. He is a member of the Community Heights Youth Group. Away from school, Bauer, enjoys lifting weights, playing sports and running basketball games, playing board games with the boys and spending time with family and friends. Bauer plans to attend a four-year school next year and play basketball, but is undecided on a major.

Kaitlyn Bloom: Clarissa and Tim Bloom are the parents of Kaitlyn Bloom. Bloom is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Key Club and student council. Bloom is a Pacesetter and a member of the tennis team. She is a member of the marching and concert band. She is a drum major of the marching band the past two years. Bloom choreographed the musical, is secretary of the student council, a Rotary student of the month, and will earn a Silver Cord for volunteer work and a Red Cord for donating and organizing in a blood drive before graduating. She is on the SIAC committee, does Big/Little Cardinal mentoring, studio and competition dance at Steppin Out Dance Studio, and a member of the Sacred Heart Youth Group. Her favorite hobby is to travel. In her spare time, she likes to eat cookie dough ice cream. Bloom works at Silverado Jewelry. Her plans after graduation are to attend a four-year university to study social work and management.
