Man airlifted to hospital after ‘assault’ in Wrexham



A man was airlifted to hospital after an assault in Wrexham this evening. Police were called at 5.35pm after a report the man had been assaulted.

The victim was treated at the scene before being airlifted by the Wales Air Ambulance to Aintree University Hospital in Liverpool. His condition is described as stable.

One person has been arrested. A witness said police forensic teams remained at the scene.

A statement by North Wales Police said: “At 17:35 hours police have responded to a report of a male who had been assaulted in the Portal Avenue area of Wrexham. The victim was treated by ambulance and taken to hospital. His condition is described as stable.

“One person has been arrested but we keep an open mind as to what has happened in these early stages of the investigation.

“We would like to reassure the public that the continued police presence in the area is in order to gather evidence and investigate. We do not believe that there is a wider risk to the public in general. We are grateful for the public’s patience and understanding whilst the enquiries are completed.”
