Christian Eriksen scored just two minutes into his return for Denmark on Saturday night.
The 30-year-old hadn’t featured for his country since he suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch at Euro 2020.
However, the midfielder was offered a fresh opportunity during the January transfer window as he signed a short-term deal with Brentford where he was reunited with his former Denmark youth coach, Thomas Frank.
While being eased into the first team fold, Eriksen has made three Premier League appearances for the Bees, and got his first assist during their victory over Burnley.
He was rewarded for this progress with a place back in the Denmark squad and it didn’t take long for him to prove he warranted the call-up.
Denmark were 3-1 down to the Netherlands when Eriksen joined the action at half time.
On 47 minutes, he cut the deficit to 3-2.
The ball was pulled back to him in the penalty area and he fired it home with aplomb.
